A Different Kind of Birthday Party

We have two dogs; Remy, the dog who was supposed to be my new Service Dog (and that’s a story in itself) and Henry, our spare dog. If you have a dog or more than one you understand that dogs are not pets. Dogs are members of your family. They really do become our fur babies. And that’s how my husband, M, the dogs, and I came to attend a different kind of birthday party last weekend.

Every weekend a group of very close friends gets together at the home of one lovely lady named Tina. She has fenced in her property so all of our dogs can play together and the humans can socialize, too. Both humans and dogs swim in her in-ground pool in the summer and we have bonfires throughout the other three seasons. We even spend the late evening hours of Christmas Day together with all the dogs since we get the pooches ready for winter.

The dogs are the reason we all met and they are as much a part of our social life as the humans. And so, last weekend, we celebrated the birthdays of two of our human group (one of whom was M) and one of the dogs. There’s no great message here. It’s just some pictures of a group of incredible people and really sweet dogs enjoying a combined birthday party.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

This is the doggie birthday boy, Toby, posing with his peanut butter cake. He’s one of the happiest dogs in the world. A local dog bakery Four Paws Bakery made this cake for Toby and the dogs agreed it was fantastic!

Teddy was happy to wear his hat but he didn’t want the cake.

This beautiful lady is Tina, who opened her home and her heart to all of us. She is the kind of friend you want your very best friends to have!
