DESCRIBE YOUR 2016 IN 3 WORDS.
Joyful, challenging, busy!
WRITE THE NAMES OF 2 PEOPLE WHO HAVE CHARACTERIZED YOUR 2016.
Oh, my goodness! How does one pick the names of people who embody my 2016?
Joyful. I’m blessed that I know so many joyful people both online and offline! They make my life so much better and they’re the reason I can say that 2016 was joyful. If we talk to each other, no matter what means we use to do it, you’re one of the people!
Challenging? I’d have to say that I caused myself the biggest challenges in 2016. Sometimes the challenges were great for me and sometimes I over-reached on what I could actually accomplish. But if there were obstacles in 2016 I mostly created them myself.
Busy. This one is pretty easy. But it isn’t one person; it’s almost everyone I know! I think we all had very busy years and I expect 2017 will be the same. But that’s part of the joy and challenge of life!
- WRITE ABOUT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE YOU’VE VISITED IN 2016 AND WHY YOU LIKED IT SO MUCH.
If you’ve read more than a few of my posts you know I don’t go anywhere. In fact when I went to the doctor’s office last week they asked if I’d been out of the country and I had to admit I hadn’t been out of the county in months!
But that doesn’t mean I haven’t seen beautiful places! I can look out my back windows and see the field tawny with last summer’s grasses. The deer play there almost every evening. At night I can watch my foxes, the baby skunk and baby ‘possum, and less regular wildlife visitors looking for food in both the front of the house and in the back.
I can visit Pete and Andi and sit on their back deck and look out over the cornfield, now cut for the winter, and see turkeys, deer, and once even a coyote. I can see so many stars there and at home in the night sky.
I’m so blessed that I don’t have to leave home to see beauty every single day!
- WRITE THE MOST DELICIOUS FOOD YOU’VE TASTED IN 2016.
This is a totally unfair question since I’m the one who does all the cooking in my family! I think my most recent favorites were the Kicked Up Chicken Fried Steak because chicken fried steak! And Hawaiian Pork Tenderloin but Mama’s Beer Battered Fish (posting soon) is probably at the top of the list!
- WRITE THE EVENT WHICH HAS MARKED YOU MORE OF THIS IN 2016 (EVEN GLOBAL EVENT).
I’m honestly not sure what to make of this question. I don’t feel as if I’ve been “marked” by any event. Some things have happened on a personal level that brought me great joy and others have been less fabulous. The same could be said of “global events.” Terrorist attacks around the world are, of course, something that touched us all but so is the goodness we see in so many people everywhere.
- WRITE THE FINEST PURCHASE YOU’VE MADE IN THIS 2016, AND IF YOU WANT, LINK A PHOTO.
Ummm. No purchases other than some occasional groceries and I totally forgot to get photos of them!
- WRITE 3 GOOD INTENTIONS FOR THIS 2017.
Spend more time talking to God every day!
Do more baking.
Get those darned ducks moved outside!
- WRITE 1 PLACE YOU WANT TO VISIT IN 2017.
I would like to be able to visit our oldest son, his fiancé, and our grandchildren who live out of state at least twice this year! We rarely get to see the adults although the kids do come for a visit every summer!
- WRITE 1 PLATE/FOOD YOU WANT TO EAT IN 2017.
Food is something that, while I love cooking and eating, isn’t a prime thing for me in 2017. So I’m going to cheat and say I really, really want to learn to sew more this year and I also want to get a lot of food preservation (canning, dehydrating, etc.) done this summer. I also want to get my rabbits so I’ll have rabbits (from the rabbits I purchase) for the freezer, and, perhaps, most of all, GET THOSE DUCKS OUT OF THE TUB!
Haha, those poor ducks!

Those poor Ducks!? I wash that tub six times a day. They eat twice plus get treats twice a day. They swim for an hour a night. I have a fish tank just so they can chase and eat fish I have to buy so they can chase and eat fish! I want to have the life these ducks have! LOL

And by ‘poor,’ I had meant how sad that you want them out of the house. Now I can see why. I bet they love the pampered life!

I’m having trouble with Mr. C. He likes having them in the tub. But there’s not enough room for them. They need to stretch their legs more and I am NOT buying duck diapers!

Thanks for this. The reason I don’t participate is because I have my work cut out keeping up on a daily basis 🙂

I know how you feel. That’s why I didn’t tag specific people. Sometimes it’s a challenge just to keep our heads above water!
