Yesterday I woke up with a migraine that felt like I was trying to give birth through my right eye. It was…unpleasant. And the rest of the day was equally as lovely. I’d accomplished so much on Monday that I was convinced this week I’d get my Super Wife/Mama/Bam cape and fly through the rest of the days like a super star. Now I’m wondering if I’m going to manage to make a pot of coffee (and at 5:05 a.m. I need it)! It’s only Wednesday!

Everyone is all excited about today being the International Day of Happiness. When I woke up this morning I’d already been bombarded by posts on every social media platform about being happy. Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for happiness. Happiness is a good thing and we should all strive to make others happy and be happy ourselves. But aren’t we forgetting something? Today is also (and more importantly) World Frog Day!

The idea of having New Year’s resolutions has always evaded me. Perhaps it’s because, in my wild youth, I actually tried making them and failed miserably. But I think, more than my failure at keeping past resolutions, it’s that the very premise of resolutions made at the beginning of the year seems destined to create failure. Instead, I’ve decided to come up with a list of goals and challenges.
Goals and Challenges

Lately I’ve been too fatigued to even think of getting something started early in the day in my slow cooker. And I don’t want to have to watch three or four pots while standing over the stove either. But if I do a little pre-cooking I can put everything together and have my meat, potatoes, and vegetables all in one. That’s why I love Creamy Mushroom Pork Chop Bake!

I’m quite proud of my Irish heritage so I thought I’d share some of the music I grew up hearing!
And here’s one Mama used to sing all the time!
And of course…
And it wouldn’t be St. Patrick’s Day without
I’m a big fan of chicken thighs and drumsticks but this recipe makes such juicy, flavorful chicken breasts I had to share it. The combination of bell peppers, onions, and chicken breasts is perfect with rice or egg noodles. And Sweet Pepper Chicken makes a great freezer meal!

While it’s never pleasant to think you may have a serious disease it’s important that you find out early on. Some diseases are so subtle and asymptomatic you need tests to discover them. Polycythemia vera is considered a rare disease with about 2 in every 100,000 people having the disease. It usually develops slowly, and you might have it for years without knowing. Often the condition is found during a blood test done for another reason. Do you have Polycythemia Vera?
