June is the month strawberries are at their peak here. Everyone goes strawberry crazy! There are plenty of u-pick farms nearby but I have my own strawberry patch in the garden. Since strawberry plants become less productive over time I’m going to propagate new plants so I’ll go on having thriving plants and fresh strawberries. Imagine doing this with your plants to grow your own free strawberry plants.

Definitely! I never got to actually eat my strawberries as the day I went out to pick them the birds had got there earlier! You could see where their little beaks had pecked them off. xxx

I have trouble with mice. My garden is fenced in with chicken wire to keep out the rabbits and other vegetable/fruit lovers but the mice have a highway to everything. We need gardens that are surrounded on all sides and above with some kind of clear, impenetrable dome!

Lol, someone said to me a greenhouse. I think I need a greenhouse! I just couldn’t believe it because I looked at them the day before and nearly picked them then but thought one more day in the sun and they’ll be perfect! Birds obviously thought so too… xxx

I love planting strawberries! We had 4 plants that produced strawberries every year, and they were getting big! One year unfortunatley we had a bug issue and half of our strawberries were bad. They were pretty small the first two years so they only produced like 20 strawberries all together!

Our old village doctor taught me to punch the business of the first year to get a bunch every year after. Mice like to share my strawberries. Darn them!

Wow, that is really cool! 🙂 I noticed my mom’s strawberries did that one year but it never occurred to me to put them in a pot like that. 😀 I’ll definitely have to try that.

I need to move my strawberries so they don’t take over my garden. Starting new plants means I’ll have good plants to move.

That’s really great that you have so many! 😀 Haha, I wish my mom’s would take over – that would mean we’d have a ton of strawberries! I really should move some of them though, because a few planted themselves almost in the walkway. XD

You’re welcome! The plants are actually always making new plants but the runners usually end up rooting themselves wherever the original plants are growing. I need to move some because the strawberries are taking over the garden!

I planted some strawberries one year but I didn’t have enough space. Hubby swears 20 acres wouldn’t be enough for the strawberries I like to eat LOL
