I’d love to be able to skip commercials when I watch TV but we only have an antenna so there’s no way to record and zoom past the darned things. In the middle of a sleepless night I realized there had been 4 ads for various prescription drugs in just over an hour. Two things struck me about these commercials. They all have hideous side effects and every one of them tells us to “Ask your doctor about…”

I Fought the Mole
It’s probably the same in a lot of places. You have moles. They’re destructive little things that can tear up a flower bed and vegetable garden in record time. They’re the bane of people who want perfectly manicured lawns. And they’re tough to defeat! But I fought the mole and the mole lost! So why do I feel so bad?
Some Wedding Pictures
It’s been a long time since I posted my normal stuff but the wedding things had to come first. It’s not every day your “baby” gets married. I did some baking for the wedding but forgot to take pictures. I’ll have to remake at least one of the recipes to post. But first some wedding pictures!
Wedding Aftermath
The wedding went off without a hitch but I’m completely out of spoons! Yesterday I couldn’t get out of bed and today I’m barely moving. And I have three kids to watch a bit later! The wedding aftermath is too much for me! I’ll be back and raring to go as soon as I recover.
Getting Ready for the Wedding
I’m going to take the the week off because I’m getting ready for the wedding! Pete & Andi will be tying the knot in a matter of days and I’ve got so much to do! But before I go I want to tell you all about how things have gone since the kids first announced they were getting married.
Early Morning Heartbreak
Almost every day I get up before the sun and take a cup of coffee to the front porch. I sit and listen to the birds and watch the bats in their last frantic effort to feed before sunrise. But my real reason for sitting out front instead of in back is that I can watch our foxes romping on the wide expanse of grass across the road. That was not the case this morning. Instead of enjoying the beginning of the day it was early morning heartbreak for me.
Dijon Swiss Cheese Cream Sauce
If you want a delicious sauce that works equally well on chicken, beef or fish you need to try my Dijon Swiss Cheese Cream Sauce! It’s a rich, silky sauce that turns an ordinary entrée into something special!
Simple Woman’s Chicken Cordon Bleu
Every once in a while I want to make something really special for dinner. But I’m a simple woman. So I created Simple Woman’s Chicken Cordon Bleu as one of the dishes I turn to on those occasions. It’s sumptuous, delicious, and still inexpensive and easy enough for me to make.
Memories of My Father
It doesn’t take Father’s Day for me to have memories of my father. I think about both of my parents daily. Although Daddy has been gone for 25 years now the things we did together are still fresh in my memory. He was an excellent father and the times we spent together are treasures I keep close.
In The Vegetable Garden
With the flower beds in front of the house looking so much better I was feeling pretty good about the work so far this summer Even after getting rid of the weeds and planting the first round of new flowers there was still work going on out there. But in the vegetable garden things were not going well at all!
