If you’ve seen the photographs I take you know I’m not great at taking pictures. I’d love to have stunning photos but mastering my camera is something that I have yet to do. It’s been a long time since I’ve really tried practicing photography but being outside so much lately reminded me I need to do it.

I like taking pictures but I’m not good at it. I’m blessed if it’s just in focus lol so I have no advice. I will say I liked the ones you took :):)

I think my biggest problem right now is that I read the manual for my camera and then promptly forget it all. LOL

LOL yeah, if I’m reading a manual, it has to stay out the WHOLE time I am trying to master what I am reading the manual for. Once it’s put away, the info in my brain goes with it too 😉

The problem with my manual is that the physical one has print so small I can’t read it. I put the online one on the computer but I can’t carry that around with me. LOL I’ll have to read, run out and try stuff, and come back.

hahaha I know, I wonder why, oh why, they make that type so small in the manuals??? It’s like they don’t want you to figure out how to use the contraptions. Oh my goodness talking about online manuals…when hubby bought me this laptop it didn’t come with ANY books, no manual. Had a piece of paper in the box that said, thanks for your purchase and access the manual to your new XYZ laptop online at… Really??? LOL

LOL I tried to reach our internet provider because it went down a few days ago. The prompt on the phone was to go their website. “If I could do THAT I wouldn’t be calling!”

hahahahaha. I had a similar experience with a shipping company, yesterday. I won’t name names but the electronic label wouldn’t print. Called them and they told me that I needed to call the company that sent me the label…ummm YOUR company sent me the label, they would just keep repeating call the company that sent you the label, they need to send you another one. Oh my goodness. I finally said are you XYZ company, response yes we are, is this your website, insert web address here, their reply, yes…OK YOU SENT ME THE LABEL…LOL finally when I got the 3rd supervisor, yes 3rd. they said it was my browser. There system isn’t compatible with windows 10 or windows edge. LOL

Mr. C gets so frustrated so quickly with things like that! I have to rush and take his phone before the person on the other end hangs up!

I stay calm with my outer voice, inner voice is praying, another inner voice is yelling, the other 48 inner voices are running scared LOL

LOL I keep trying to teach Mr. C you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. But once I snatch the phone and he hears how it’s going when the person is talking to me he calms down.

LOL Yeah hubby just hands the phone to me. Then the person on the other end of the line is REALLY confused and keeps calling me Mr. lol

Lovely photos! 😍 Haha, I usually use the auto function on my camera; if I set it up manually, whatever I want to take a photo of will be gone by the time I’m done. 😂

Thank you, Grace. I’d love to be really good at it but first I have to be okay. lol

LOL, same here! XD

There’s nothing wrong with using the auto functions on the camera. They are there for a reason and cameras these days do a great job of getting a good exposure in the auto settings. 🙂

For most pictures my auto makes colors odd. But I do use it. I take some on autos and shoot the same thing using settings I’m trying to learn.

Thanks for saying! 🙂
My camera isn’t from “these days” – I’m using my dad’s PhotoSmart camera that was made around 1998. It still does fairly well, despite its age! 😅 Sometimes it takes a bit of effort to make it focus on what I want for macro, but other than that, it has been a good camera. I would like to get a newer one someday though. One that has more than a 3X zoom…

These days right after you take a new camera ought if the box it’s obsolete. I have to buy a special lens to take macros. Not happening.

Haha, yeah. I don’t really want a new camera; just one that is “new to me.” Mine (technically it was my dads before I took it over) is currently being kept in operating order with a Coke Cola bottle cap my dad screwed into the bottom to hold it together plus a rubber band to keep the little doors shut… and you have to twist it to make the screen light up. it’s pitiful! 😂
Oh my… they didn’t give you a macro lens with your camera?! Haha, I’m not sure I’d want a camera that didn’t have macro with it. Macro is one of my favorite things. You’d see me out there trying to get up-close shots by trying to make a camera focus though a microscope or a telescope or one side of binoculars if I had to. 😂

I had no idea about cameras and Mr. C got me my camera for Christmas one year based on my recommendation.

I think that the best way to get better is to actually get out there and start taking photos. Make all kinds of mistakes and learn from them. The manual that came with the camera will only get you so far. Play around and see what works.
..Humble advice from one who is continually learning.

Thank you. My sister says the same thing. She worked at a photography studio for ten years. I need to take one day a week just to shoot everything.

I am in the same position. I have a Nikon d3300 but also a smart phone galaxy s7 and the camera is just so good. I guess I’m just lazy not having to carry it around with me

I have the Galaxy S5 and the pictures are usually just horrid. Then again, the photos I take with the good camera aren’t great either! lol More practice is in my future!
