This recipe comes directly from Betty Crocker™ and I haven’t made any changes. I decided to make Rainbow Chip Gooey Butter Cookies because I haven’t done much baking this summer. But I didn’t want to have to do too much work!

Things have been moving forward on the Duck Cabin. In spite of some rainy days Mr. Comfortable has been able to get a lot done. I feel terrible about not being able to help but most of the things he’s been doing are things I can’t do anyway. The important thing is that he’s still moving forward on the Duck Cabin so Freckles and Penguin can move in soon!

I found this recipe in Southern Living and fell in love with it! Cranberry Red Pepper Jelly is great on meats and just as good poured over cream cheese and spread on crackers. The original recipe makes about 3 cups so I halved it so I could use it all up in a timely manner.

I posted this recipe in June of 2016 but it’s so good I wanted to share it again. Being an adult has its advantages but being a kid is a lot of fun! Summertime means long evenings playing outside and getting special treats. Orange Creamsicle Bars take me back to long ago summer evenings and there’s no baking involved! While I’ve been whining about my rash Mr. Comfortable has been working on the Duck Cabin. He hasn’t been able to spend as much time on it as he’d have liked. There were a few days of rain, our granddaughter’s birthday party, and my need to be babied 24/7 because I itch. Yet construction continues!

This summer has been absolutely wonderful and, at the same time, not the best summer of my life. A perfect example of this is happening right now. The weekend began seemingly innocently. Friday night I got a sore throat. It was no big deal, really. On Saturday we attended our granddaughter’s 12th birthday party. It was so much fun and we stayed through the bonfire that evening. About 30 minutes after getting home I found I have Fungus Amungus with Creeping Crud.
