Slow cookers are wondrous things! Whether you work outside the home, have kids to run around, or chores that keep you hopping from morning until bedtime at home, a slow cooker can ensure you have a delicious meal ready for your family. I made Slow Cooker Country Pork Chops & Potatoes which gave me time to accomplish other things around the place!

Check the gravy about thirty minutes before it is fine and add about 1/4 cup of water if it’s too thick.

When I was working, I used show cooked about to make a lot for a few days of meals. Chicken or beef stews.

I usually make big batches and freeze some.

I did the same thing when I was working, made enough for 4 or 5 days, eat something different on weekends.

How many meals can you make in a slow cooker?

It depends on what I’m making. I never fill the slow cooker too much. I think they recommend not over about a third.

A third make sense for the steam and bubbling!

yummy! I had never thought to brown the meat before putting it in the slow cooker. What a great idea! I bet it does take the flavours up a notch! Thanks for the delicious recipe and the cooking tip 😉

You’re welcome, Margaret. I could do it without Browning but I swear there’s a difference.

I can see where it would make a difference. All that good caramelized flavours from the browning. it makes perfect sense.

I add about 1/4 cup of water 30 minutes before it was done. The gravy sometimes gets too thick. It’s a really tasty dinner! Let me know if you try it, please!

Thank you for this tip. The gravy is one of the best parts. The truth be known I want to pick up my plate and lick it clean, lol.

I replied from my phone. The “even” was supposed to read “when.” My phone likes to assist me by using words I don’t want. And it thinks I was born in about 1632. It puts “thou” when I type in “you.”

LOL. We know what you mean with phones. Sometimes our gadgets have a mind of their own. We figured out what you meant though.

I once texted my sister while riding in the car. She wrote back, “What!?” I looked at my text and it was gobbledegook. I fixed it and sent it again explaining the first was just messed up. She said, “Good. I thought you’d had a stroke.”
