Up and moving

For a few weeks at the end of October and beginning of November I felt completely worn out. That would have been okay except I wasn’t doing enough to cause such fatigue. Now that I have the diagnosis of Myasthenia Gravis I have en explanation but I won’t start treatment until the neurologist sees me next week. Thus, I’ve still been dragging my heels. But with Christmas right around the corner I realized I must get up and moving!

up and moving

Yesterday I finally decided that, no matter what, I was going to dust, vacuum, and unpack the boxes I’d left in our living room area. Doing all of those things was going to be a huge challenge but if I fell asleep at 6 p.m. at least I’d have finally accomplished something.

Behind-the-bookcase

This is seriously how I’d left this area since late August. I’m hanging my head in shame.

Storage-under-stairs

This little area on the left is stuff I had to put away. Behind the poles is the “under-the-stairs” storage area.

I admit when I looked at the number of boxes on the floor and all the stuff piled on the bookcase I was ready to throw in the towel. Finding spots for everything is difficult in this small space and nearly everything I could put up in the kitchen and bathroom had already been moved to those spots. Nevertheless, I was determined to get up and moving and at least get some of it done.

My original plan was to play Christmas music while I unpacked and cleaned but Mr. C wanted to watch football. Men. So I sang to myself in my head (and I sing so much better when my vocal cords aren’t involved!) and got to work.

Because I have to rest frequently it took all day to finish but I’m proud to say that I did it all! The boxes are unpacked and the bookcase has been cleared. I’ve vacuumed everywhere and dusted everything. Okay…I still need to mop but I’m hoping with enough groaning and moaning Mr. C will catch on that I need him to do that.

A-good-start

I even put up a few of the Christmas decorations! And you can see the floor…which I’m not sure is a good thing.

Peace

My Christmas stocking hangers are in place. I no longer have a fireplace but the bookcase will do nicely.

Tomorrow I hope to bake a little as I’ll be upstairs babysitting. And while the basement isn’t exactly a Christmas wonderland yet it definitely looks a lot better! That, in my opinion, is 1 1/2 things off my Christmas to do list!
