Although it feels as if it’s going slowly I’m enjoying checking things off my Christmas to do list. For a moment I took it on as something I had to get done quickly. I have that bad habit. But I stopped myself and I’m taking my time and savoring the individual items. This is my Christmas To Do List update!
Two of the items on my list were to go to the park in the next town east. It’s the county seat and they decorate in the city park. The last time I went was about 15 years ago! It’s changed a bit. There seem to be a lot fewer lights and more displays but it was still fun.
One of my favorites was the scene from “A Christmas Story” with Ralphie in his bunny p.j.’s and the “Italian” lamp prize in the window.
Frosty was there with his friends. Rudolph had his own scene but I managed to get a picture of the fence post which completely cut off the poor reindeer’s head!
We tried to find a house decorated to excess but everyone seemed to have controlled himself. I’m still on a quest to find something that lights up the sky for at least a mile!
The tree on the courthouse lawn was a disappointment. The bright white lights made it very hard to see the red and green ornaments.
I much prefer the tree in our village! You can’t see them from this angle (and I couldn’t get to the other side) but there are large “gift boxes” that are brilliantly lit around the tree.
Almost back home we saw this house and I was impressed with the determination of the homeowners to get lights all the way up that tree!
I baked more cookies for friends and, now that the frosting is set, I just have to get them in plastic wrap and into gifts bags.
The Christmas movie list is going very slowly. I really haven’t watched any Christmas movies unless you count “Die Hard” which surprisingly actually shows up on lists of Christmas movies. Seriously? But I did end up watching it. I was stuck in bed and the remote was in the living room. I swear.
I want to thank http://www.taskandpurpose.com for that great pic!
So that’s my Christmas To Do List update. I have been wrapping gifts but I wanted to get a few more done before I take a picture.
How are you doing on your Christmas list?
Well done, Elizabeth!! Die hard is a Christmas movie??? Why am I so shocked?

Go figure. I guess since it takes place during the Christmas season.

I watched “Love Actually” yesterday and the day before (it’s a three hour movie and I have appointments every day). It’s very sweet and romantic and takes place during Christmas so I feel that I’m not just watching Christmas movies with lots of bullets and explosions. Although, truth be told, I prefer a good war Christmas movie. lol

We have a street nearby that is decorated to excess. Thank you for the reminder 🙂

I won’t be satisfied until I see one that makes me wonder what they were thinking.

Such a pretty light display! It warms my heart to see this. As a child my family would always go to something similar. I miss those types of traditions since we are all so spread out now. So thank you for posting this ❤ I feel like I had a vicarious tour! Those cookies look absolutely perfect- YUM! Frosted sugar cookies are some of my favorite. What a fun list! Sounds like you have knocked quite a bit out! Oh gosh, I have yet to make my Christmas to- do list! I had my last final today, so time to get productive 😉

The frosted cookies are cream cheese frosting. Because, as my son says, all my recipes, even for coffee, start out “soften a stick of butter and 8 ounces of cream cheese.”

Light displays are so fun! My son always brings up Die Hard as a Christmas movie to tease me. I’ve been watching Hallmark’s Christmas movies since before Halloween and I’m a bit obsessed! Your sugar cookies look very festive.

I’m not a big romantic. Die Hard is more my style than The Holiday. Mr. C likes the Hallmark stuff. LOL I kind of rushed through frosting them. This great thing wears me out fast!
