Katie from Katie’s Cottage Books nominated The Comfortable Coop for this award and I’m honored. I sometimes forget to finish the awards so I copied and pasted her award so it would sit there, haunting me, until I did it!
The absolutely amazing Maggie from Dreaming of Guatemala nominated me for this award. If you haven’t checked out her blog you’re missing something really special! I love this young woman and she inspires me, an old lady, with her optimism, her wisdom, and her faith! Thank you for the nomination, Maggie!
My friend Okoto from Okoto Enigma created this award and, in her words, the “Mystery Blogger Award is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.” So you can see why I consider this a great honor!
Now on to the questions Maggie chose for her nominees!
1. What’s a good book that you recently read? I actually haven’t been reading as much as I used to because I need new glasses. I’m restricted to the books that have large print so I’m rereading The Hunger Games trilogy.
2. I have (had) five siblings. Four brothers who were much older (24 years, 23 years, 21 years, and 12 years older) who have all passed away, and one sister who is a mere 3 years older!
3. Oh, gosh! I have so many favorites! If I didn’t I wouldn’t be so round! Anything that falls into my “comfort food” group like Chicken Fried Steak would be really high on the list. And I keep refining my recipes for my favorites.
4. I used to play piano, flute, piccolo, and trumpet. I really need to try to find a flute again so I can start playing. It’s so relaxing and actually helps with memory!
5. If you know me you know I’m
terrifying strange odd eccentric. Yeah. Let’s go with eccentric. One of my favorite lines is from the movie Collateral and requires a little background for the people who haven’t seen the movie. Tom Cruise plays Vincent, a hitman hired to kill 5 people in one night. Jamie Foxx plays Max, the unfortunate driver of the taxi Vincent hires for that night. Vincent enters a room on an upper floor while Max waits in the taxi. When Vincent shoots the man in the room the victim falls out of the window and crashes into the parked cab. When Vincent returns to the cab Max shouts, “You killed him!” and Vincent calmly responds, “No. I shot him. The bullet and the fall killed him.” Because ya gotta love accuracy!
My nominees are:
Apricots and Admiration because this blog is wonderful and funny and more people need to discover it!
New Garden Homestead because gardening, recipes, and cutting expenses! This is my kind of gal!
Mama in the Country because she’s just getting started and I know she’s going to be great!
Crazy Love Parents because I so enjoy the topics and writing and her 10 year old son did a “guest post” that blew me away!
Estonian Cuisine because Ruta is teaching us all about Estonian food and Oatmeal and Berry Cake!
Earlier I posted the link to this award and now I’m accepting. It really belongs to my courageous husband!
Liz of Daily Warriors created this award and invited me to accept. I’ve never thought of myself as valiant but I suppose, no matter what our personal struggles are, when we overcome them or even learn how to accept them, we are all valiant. I’m honored that Liz thought I worthy of this amazing award! And if you haven’t checked out Daily Warriors yet, you really should. It’s for everyone who faces struggles from serious illness to clutter around the home. Hey! I qualify in at least two (or 200) categories!
Thank you so much Following Him Beside Still Waters for this nomination! If you haven’t read her blog I urge you to check it out! It’s heartwarming to be recognized by a blogger I admire for this award!
How The Comfortable Coop Began
My former daughter-in-law (and dear friend) wanted us to do a blog together. I actually knew absolutely nothing about blogs and didn’t even realize some of the things I read online were blogs! We started together but she’s so busy with my grandchildren (3 of them anyway) and her Etsy shop and Thrive Foods store she decided to stop blogging. We let the old blog go and The Comfortable Coop was all mine.
Advice to New Bloggers
Since I’ve been blogging less than a year I feel a little hesitant to give advice. What the heck do I know? But I have learned that one of the greatest benefits of blogging is reading the blogs of others. I’ve met some great people and found fascinating blogs.
And be sure, if you really enjoy a post, to comment on it. Comments are so helpful and encouraging. Blogging is hard work and comments are the mega-vitamins we all need!
My Nominations (in no particular order):
Humming the Snail Shar’s blog is fun and eclectic and I think you’ll enjoy it!
Bee Organized with Pamela is perfect for you if you’re like me and always fighting your inner
slob disorganized person.
Your Home for Japanese Food because I love finding new cuisines and this blog makes it easy to discover new recipes.
These are only 3 of the fantastic blogs I follow.
I know that for many bloggers passing 100 followers is something that came within days of starting their blogs. But for me it’s a big accomplishment. I want to thank each and every one of you who made the choice to follow The Comfortable Coop. I hope you find things that are useful, amusing, or thought-provoking here. And please feel free to make suggestions to help me make The Comfortable Coop more useful!
