Things have really moved along quickly on Ballymurrin lately. Mr. Comfortable has been spending his days outside working hard to finish Ballymurrin Quacker Farmstead while the weather is still warm. The cabin is done. Now it’s time to finish the Ballymurrin Play Area!

There are few phrases that strike fear into the hearts of anyone who has children or grandchildren more than “some assembly required.” And yesterday Mr. Comfortable and I ignored our instincts and found ourselves in a “some assembly required” situation. We survived but it wasn’t pretty.

I love my vegetable garden. I spend most of my summer out there even when it really doesn’t need my attention. I get a thrill just seeing my vegetables growing. Yet even though I love my garden I’m not going to spend a fortune on it each season. I grow vegetables because home-grown are healthier and cheaper than store bought. Over the years I’ve learned how to have a great garden for less money.
