Whether you work outside the home, have kids to run around, or chores that keep you hopping from morning until bedtime at home, a slow cooker can ensure you have a delicious meal ready for your family. I noticed a recipe for Swiss burgers a while back on (I believe) Recipes.com and thought it might be something Mr. Comfortable would enjoy. But naturally I had to kick up the flavor a bit so I came up with this version. Mr. C gave my Swiss Cheeseburgers with Tomato Gravy two thumbs up and he’s not a big burger lover! I love burgers. I’d eat them a lot but Mr. C is still having some trouble eating them. But by making these burgers with the tomato gravy I could make both of us happy. And, boy, did these make us happy! Seriously what’s better than a burger stuffed with cheese?

There are many versions of schnitzel although people often lump them all together as Weinerschnitzel. Real Weinerschnitzel is made only with veal and is actually a geographically protected term in Germany and Austria. There is also Hunter’s Schnitzel which was originally made with the backstraps of boars and now includes the use of venison and is served with mushroom gravy. But this is Schweineschnitzel, which is made with pork and usually served with Spätzle (a traditional German noodle) and gravy.
