Becoming an organized person requires both a plan and determination. But everything starts at the beginning. Organization Part 1 — Getting Started will help you begin your journey to an organized home. When our kids were little I was super-organized. Our boys were only 18 months apart so I didn’t have time to waste. Two babies in diapers is a tremendous motivator to save time and steps. Some people thought I may have taken it too far; even my spices were alphabetized. But getting little ones ready for everything from bath and bed to a vacation out of town takes organization. As the kids got older and I was working outside the home some things slipped a bit.

When you have little ones it’s always a matter of being organized. I was lucky when my kids were young because I’d already been organized. And enjoying them is the most important thing!

I have 2 things to say, first there is nothing wrong with washing something before you put it in the trash! Doesn’t everybody do that? It keeps the trash from stinking, and you don’t have all that nasty dripping ooze when you go to take out the trash. ( I also hear it keeps animals from getting their heads stuck in things, if they are looking for food)
Second, I’ve never thought of myself as really organized but after reading your blog, I feel good because I am organized 🙂 At least up to step 1. We’ll see after you post step 2 🙂

Exactly! Living in the country we have to be aware that there are all kinds of critters just waiting to get into the cans! And I HATE wasting a garbage bag because it has to go out half full because it smells so bad!

Love this post. I used to be ultra organized and then several major life events occurred and I fell off the organization wagon. Climbing back on though and attempting to follow these types of steps.

Being a control freak I have systems for sorting through clothes for charity on a regular basis, sorting the freezer, kitchen etc. I can’t relax if things aren’t organised. Not mad on cleaning though as the garden needs attention too now!

I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. IT GOT TO A POINT, I ACTUALLY STOPPED WEEDING. THEY NEVER SEEM TO GET TIRED OF GROWING!!!!! THANKS GOODNESS WE NOW HAVE SOME GOATS AROUND, SO I DON’T HAVE TO FEEL GUILTY ABOUT NOT WEEDING SO OFTEN ANYMORE.
“THEY HAVE TO EAT SOMETHING, SO IT WOULDN’T BE FAIR TO THEM TO CUT EVERYTHING DOWN.” THAT’S WHAT I TELL MYSELF NOW.
I KNOW I STILL HAVE TO BACK TO EAT THOUGH; THE GOATS SIMPLY ARE NOT EATING THE WEEDS FAST ENOUGH.

I just say that you can’t have a clean house and a tidy garden and a great dinner! It’s one or the other here…

I’m trying to figure out a schedule that works so I can keep my garden up, have the house decent, if not great, and still cook great meals. I just don’t know if that will be possible without a staff! lol

I just accept that it’s clean house or fab garden. If it’s tidy it’s not too bad in or out! The trouble with staff is I’d feel I’d have to clean up before they came! Just as well I can’t afford them…

LOL I know what you mean about cleaning up before the staff showed up! As long as I don’t have to kick a path through the house I’m okay with it in the summer.
